Charity Takeaway Curry Nights

Little Big Dog is proud to support Meridian Rotary Club and Bengal Village in fund raising for charity. The takeaway curry event has been a great success in the past – you get an excellent quality meal from Bengal Village plus support local charities at the same time.

We will be offering two beers in 440ml cans for you to enjoy alongside your curry:

St Arman – Munich Helles Lager 4.8% ABV and Make It Real – Citrus Pale Ale 4.1% ABV
Contact Bengal Village to book your collection time slot for Tuesday 3rd or Wednesday 4th November. Faz at Bengal Village has got a fridge full of the beers chilling down ready to add to your order.

Watchmaker and Hound of Darkness

Watchmaker and Hound of Darkness now available in 440ml cans plus Xmas 3-pack development

Thursday was a very busy day of manually canning two more beers for our core range. Watchmaker is a 4.2% British Pale Ale. Hound of Darkness is a 4.5% Brown Porter. Both have been brewed as trials in the past to a great reception from tasters.

Watchmaker is a nod of appreciation toward John Harrison who invented the marine chronometer and lived in Barrow upon Humber many years ago.

The porter has undergone a slight name change to become Hound of Darkness – it was originally named after a Sci-Fi novel – but only Tony spotted this. The name has been tweaked to avoid any potential copyright issues.

Xmas 3-Pack

We are working on a Xmas 3-Pack of beers. We will offer a standard 3-pack or allow you to "mix n match" the beers to suit your preferences. Our rubber stamp arrived Friday to logo the pack - next addition is a little red felt Xmas hat when we can find one the correct size.

Impolite Stout is in the fermenter

Malt Bill for Impolite Stout
This stout is an attempt to recreate the depth and complex flavours of an Imperial Stout but without the colossal alcohol content – hence the idea for the name Imp-(o)-lite. At only 4.2% ABV it is surprisingly complex yet easy drinking. I’ve brewed this in a variety of  guises and each has been a hit. The taste is all malt driven here with hops taking a back seat. This version uses nine different malts. It used to include coffee too – maybe I’ll brew that as a special again one day soon. Carafa Special Malt is a dehusked grain to remove some of the harshness from the “burnt” grains. This, along with the Black Malt, give the “stout” character and colour. They are added to the mash tun at the very end to ensure a smooth taste without astringency. Oats and wheat add body and mouthfeel, whilst Munich, brown and crystal malts add depth to the middle. It’s been bubbling away in the unitank for a week now  – another fortnight until it’ll be available in cans. I know Mike B. is eagerly awaiting the return of this one having personally emptied my stocks of the previous batch. He does like a dark beer.
